Back 4 Blood

Nothing beats a good time like fighting off a horde of zombies with your pals. Back 4 Blood is a first-person shooter in which up to four players can work together to complete missions that culminate with the squad retreating into the relative safety of a safe room. There's an interesting new progression system, along with a card system that allows you to build a unique deck of abilities and perks for each mission.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy was a pleasant surprise after the mixed bag of Marvel's Avengers: the third-person adventure is all about working together as a team to defeat foes. If you like movies or comic books, this is exactly up your alley.

Outer Wilds

The Outer Wilds is a game that resets every 22 minutes. There is no experience or fighting points, only knowledge. The basic idea is that your little solar system shuts down and restarts every 22 minutes. Your mission is to figure out why this is occurring and piece together the facts so you can try to stop it.

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves immerses you in the life of a pirate, but not in the sense that Black Flag does. Rare manages to gamify every facet of Sea of Thieves, from plundering uncharted islands to sailing your ship with a group of buddies. It can easily be played alone, but you'll want to bring a friend or three.

Inside

Inside puts players in control of a small boy trying to escape an oppressive and violent world. It's hard to understate how visually arresting Inside's visual design is. The story is told silently, barring a few unforgettable setpiece moments that help unpack the game's bizarre plot.

Among Us

Among Us was released in 2018, but it wasn't until the events of 2020 that it became a craze. Up to ten players can compete to complete tasks while an impostor (or many) attempts to murder everyone else. Half the fun is seeing the impostor try to get away with it and talk their way out of it when emergency meetings are called.

Psychonauts 2

Psychonauts 2 explodes with energy and crazy third-person action-platforming mayhem. Raz's specialty is infiltrating brains and uncovering hidden traumas so that individuals (including heroes and villains) can move on in healthy ways. He employs a wide range of psychic skills to overcome physical doubts, phobias, and panic attacks while exploring areas teeming with objects and coins that allow him to improve or change his abilities.

Halo Infinite

In this Halo story, Master Chief saves a young AI, fights new (and old) kinds of enemies, travels across a wide, open area (that allows for much more flexible missions, albeit requiring a little more focus to complete), and employs new gadgets such as a grappling/grab hook for all-new combat options. The gameplay is fantastic, and multiplayer is as competitive as it has always been.

Far Cry 5

For those unfamiliar with the Far Cry series, the fifth entry is an excellent place to begin. This is the version set in Montana when the landscape has devolved into anarchy. Far Cry's wide environments are still among the greatest to explore. Choose your buddies, your weapons, and use the environment to your advantage to eliminate your opponents in whichever gruesome manner you desire.
